    • Victorian
    • Edwardian
    • Gable
    • Lean to

Your chosen style will have an effect on what your conservatory looks like and how you use it. Therefore, it's an important consideration.

    Frequently Asked Questions about Conservatories

Welcome to our FAQ section, where we provide answers to common questions about conservatories. Whether you're considering adding a conservatory to your home or seeking information about materials, costs, planning permission, and more, this section aims to provide you with the necessary insights. Browse through the following frequently asked questions to find answers that will help you make informed decisions about your conservatory project. If you have any further inquiries, feel free to reach out to our team of experts.

Can you put a tiled roof on a conservatory?

You’ll be glad to hear you can put a new roof on an existing conservatory. Retrofitting a new roof onto an older conservatory is becoming increasingly popular, as it is a cost-effective way to upgrade your space (as well as add value to your home). With two roof options, should you upgrade your conservatory roof to glass or tile?

The main draw to a glass conservatory roof is that it allows for a substantial amount of natural light to flood your extended living space. However, what once made a conservatory unbearably hot in the summer, can now ensure usability all year round by reflecting heat during the warmer months, thanks to innovative solar technology. You will also feel insulation benefits throughout the colder parts of the year.

Upgrading to a tiled roof can turn an aged conservatory into what feels (and looks) like an extension, just without the considerable cost and time investment! Here at Emerald, we use the marker leader, Guardian Warm Roofs, for our tiled roof projects. The range of colours of Tapco Tile and Metrotile available such as Burnt Umber, Charcoal, Antique Red, Ebony, and Moss Green, mean you can match your conservatory with the existing style of your home. The superior thermal insulation of the lightweight tile offers means your conservatory can be used all year round, just like any other room in the house.

How much does a conservatory cost?

As with all our products, we offer a range of flexible and affordable finance options. With Emerald, you can spread the cost over instalments for 2, 5 or even 10 years, helping you to get the home you want at a pace that works for you.

    Are glass roof conservatories warm?

Our replacement glass roofs are extremely energy efficient and help maintain the warmth in your conservatory, keeping you cosy during winter. This can also help save you money on your energy bills by ensuring you do not have to have the heating constantly blaring or plug in that electric heater!

The beauty of opting for a glazed conservatory roof instead of a solid or tiled roof option is the ability to keep your sights fully set on the natural beauty of your garden. Our glass roofs never fail to deliver unimpeded views of the outside and are comfortable to relax in 365 days a year thanks to glazing materials that efficiently reflect the sun’s heat and stamps out cold spots.

    Are conservatories secure?

Absolutely! All our conservatories are equipped with top-of-the-range security features. With incredibly force-resistant glass and windows with multi-point locking systems, we're committed to keeping your possession and your family safe. Once your conservatory is installed, all you have to do is relax and enjoy!
