The Luna Cinema

Cinema seating with blue screenThe Luna Cinema is an outdoor cinema event that will be making its way to Swindon for the 10th and 11th of August. Located just outside the town at Lydiard House, a Grade I listed estate, you can take in some history, a good film and, hopefully, some nice weather too. Hot food and drinks are available to buy, however you’re welcome to bring your own. On the 10th they’ll be showing Pretty Woman and on the 11th Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. Both films are starting at 8:30pm.

British Art exhibition

Running from now until the 23rd of August, the Swindon Museum & Art Gallery are running an exhibition on British Art during the interwar period. This period is marked by a range of new techniques and ideas that British artists were trying out. A perfect option for any who enjoy art or history, the exhibition features work by two Swindon born artists. And to top it off, it’s absolutely free to go and see.

Simple Minds and the Pretenders tour

On Friday the 31st of August, Lydiard Park in Swindon will play host to 80s rock bands Simple Minds and the Pretenders. Scottish singer-songwriter KT Tunstall completes the bill. With both bands playing a mixture of classic and new hits, a night of eclectic music is assured. Further information and tickets for the event are available via the link here.

Rated as the No 2 thing to do in Swindon on TripAdvisor, the Museum of Computing provides a fascinating insight into the history of computers.
