Here at Emerald, supporting our community is a key value of ours, shaping how we make many of our decisions. We believe in the importance of giving back, especially over the festive season. That’s why we’re proud to contribute to this year’s Swindon Christmas Appeal, a campaign aiming to raise £1,200 to help families in need.
In 2020, Reece Chaplin and his wife Stephanie launched the Swindon Christmas Appeal in response to seeing the struggles families faced during the Covid lockdown, particularly around the Christmas period, when many found it difficult to make ends meet. This year marks the fifth anniversary of the Swindon Christmas Appeal, which has raised over £17,000 in total!
This incredible amount means over 3,300 children in Swindon and surrounding areas were given new toys for Christmas- which they otherwise wouldn’t have received. We believe this initiative is what Christmas is truly about, bringing hope and joy to those around us.
However, this initiative doesn’t stop at toys; it also supports critical local organisations like the Wiltshire Treehouse– which provides essential services to bereaved children and young people. The Swindon Domestic Abuse Support Service is another example, as they make an incredible effort to assist families in need of care and protection. These organisations do exceptional work year in and year out, with the funds raised helping to extend their impact during the holidays.
Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a difference. The appeal’s organisers have seen the smiles and gratitude their efforts bring to families. And in a world where sadness often feels overwhelming, this appeal offers a beacon of positivity and hope.
