Choosing to replace your windows requires considerable thought; it’s important to make a well-informed choice. Deciding what’s best for your home will depend on a variety of factors. If you want your new windows to have the traditional timber-effect look with the low maintenance and high performance of uPVC, we have two available options. At Emerald Windows, we install the Residence Collection windows and Infinity Windows. Read on, as we discuss which option is best for you.
Both options are constructed from uPVC, a material renowned for its distinctively low maintenance qualities. All you’ll ever need to worry about when purchasing either set is giving them the occasional clean.
Comparing the aesthetics of the two windows can prove to be a head scratcher, and, of course, it all eventually boils down to your own specific tastes. If you are seeking to recreate the authentic timber look to its fullest, the Infinity option may be the optimal choice. Infinity’s innovative design ensures that any leftover plastic has been smoothed out of the frames, leaving sleek corner joints – almost identical in look to frames made from actual timber. However, the Residence 9 Collection is fitted with traditional flush sashes. Additional hardware options like Georgian Bars and Monkey Tail handles are available too; arguably the best fit for Georgian and Victorian period properties. Both collections come in a vast array of colour options and glazing styles, ensuring both maintain colour agreeability to almost all properties. Picking a winner in this category is, therefore, extremely difficult.
Infinity windows are equipped with SAC handles and MACO high security locks. MACO have been manufacturing door and window locks for over 65 years, giving a strong indication of the high quality and tight security on offer. Residence collection windows are all fitted with a multi-point locking system that secures the locking side of the sash, using expanding bolts. This means the security they provide is also exceptional.
Boasting minimal U-values of 0.8, a 9 chamber design is specifically built to increase insulation, and with an efficiency rating of A+, the Residence 9 collection takes some beating in terms of the thermal benefits they provide for homes. Although, the 7 and 2 collections are, amazingly, even more efficient than their 9 collection counterparts. Constructed from insulating uPVC material, the double glazed, sealed units found on Infinity Windows provide similarly high levels of energy efficiency.
An Article 4 direction may be in place, if you’re living in a conservation area – this may restrict the type of window options available to you. Residence 9 collection windows are built to match the specifications of Article 4 directions, meaning they are likely to be your safest bet when replacing older windows in these areas.
Upgrading your windows is a fantastic idea. The security, energy efficiency, and overall look of your home, will improve, as will your properties’ value.
