As can be seen throughout the news, Safestyle UK, a national retailer and manufacturer of windows and doors has gone into administration, after failing to find a buyer. The collapse of the company has resulted in the loss of hundreds of jobs, as well as thousands of customers left unsure where they stand with their live or past orders with Safestyle.
For those customers who paid a deposit to Safestyle but had not had their windows installed, the installation will no longer go ahead. It is uncertain if or when these customers will be able to receive a refund on their deposits and should contact their credit or debit card provider to make a claim for their deposit.
We are helping customers who have lost out on their deposit, by offering to cover the deposit within our price, so they will not suffer a financial loss.
For those customers who have lost their deposit and want to continue with their home improvement project, they should contact us directly with details of the project and price, so we can make every effort to save customers money.
For those customers who are mid-way through the installation process, it is advised that regrettably, the installation will not be completed, and they will need to seek alternative installers. In this circumstance, customers will not be charged for the remaining balance owed.
For those customers who have already had their windows fitted but are experiencing problems, they should contact Safestyle’s warranty insurance provider, Installsure.
Where customers need to find an alternative company to complete unfinished installations or carry out remedial work, we may not be able to carry out the work ourselves but will be happy to offer our advice where possible.
There is no doubt that Safestyle’s collapse will have a lasting effect on the industry, and create scepticism amongst homeowners in the market for new windows and doors, who now are rightfully wary of which companies they can put their trust in.
Our sound advice for customers who now need to choose another window supplier after being left in the dark by Safestyle, or for any future customers that would have selected Safestyle as their first choice by default, is to research prospective companies thoroughly, and ideally look locally, rather than at high-pressure national companies.
